This is Washington, DC Single Member District 5B05. This dynamic community is strong due to its mix of generational residents and new families. We are impacted by the actions of many things adjacent to our neighborhood including Providence Hospital, Catholic University, and the Michigan and Taylor St NE commuter corridors. Families travel our streets on their way to Turkey Thicket Recreation Center, Brookland Middle School, Mundo Verde PCS, Scrilli School, Petit Scholars, Washington Yu Ying, Stokes ES, Shining Stars, Bunker Hill ES, Washington Jesuit Academy, St. Anthony's School, Washington Latin, and many more! We support the commercial areas of Brookland Plaza and along 12th St NE. We are a diverse community that deserves a strong ANC representative like Michael Chaney!
Safer streets and sidewalks
I believe in multimodal transportation and that streets should be safe for all users
I am committed to ensure the delivery of the Taylor Street protected bike lane in 2027
I will advocate for continued traffic calming measures where necessary to improve safety
I will continue to advocate for sidewalk grinding to ensure our sidewalks are safe for all users
Community-Serving Spaces
I want to ensure that the public spaces are maintained and safe for community use
This includes repair of playground equipment at Turkey Thicket
I will work with the Department of Parks and Recreation to see that the track at Turkey Thicket is resurfaced
Constituent Responsiveness
The residents of 5B05 have not had a consistent representative, I will fill that role
This includes:
A voice in planning for the the Brookland Lanes Project (3726 10th Street NE) and Providence Hospital
An escalation path for residents related to their 311 requests
Context and explanation for decisions made on behalf of residents
Open-Door office hours for constituent concerns
Fundraising
It'll take us working together to make 5B05 the best it can be. Please show your support with a financial donation to our campaign (no more than $25, please). Funds raised will go towards campaign-related expenses like yards signs, handouts, and mailings.
